SC rejects YS Jagan’s appeal against CBI inquiry
A division bench of Justice Dalveer Bhandari and Justice Deepak Verma of the Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy challenging an Andhra Pradesh High Court order directing the CBI to conduct an investigation into his alleged illegal assets. The bench said that there was no need to interfere with the High Court order for the time being.
The petition was against the Andhra Pradesh High Court direction for a CBI investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets of YSR Congress Chief and Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy based on a report submitted by the investigating agency on a preliminary enquiry. Senior Counsel Ram Jethmalani and Mukul Rohatgi appeared for Jagan
The Apex Court had earlier refused to grant stay on the High Court order for a preliminary enquiry.
Jagan has been accused of accumulating huge amount of money as quid pro quo for various favors made to companies while his late father YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
