SC contempt notices to KCR on HC lawyers’ strike
The Supreme Court issued notices to the TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao for provoking lawyers to obstruct the functioning of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in September 2010. The contempt petition was filed by former legislator Capt. Harish Uppal and Adusumilli Jaya Prakash. The petition referred to the agitation in the AP High Court with lawyers demanding 42 per cent reservation for Telangana in the appointment of law officers to the court.
A bench of Justices J.M. Panchal and H.L. Gokahle issued the notices on the contempt petition to KCR, his son K.T. Rama Rao MLA, daughter Kavita, TRS MP Vijayashanti, Congress MP Madhu Yashki Goud, TRS MLA Etela Rajendra, TRS leader N. Narsimha Reddy, HC Bar Association president, D.P. Reddy, the AP Bar Council chairman, A. Narasimha Reddy, advocates Satyam Reddy, Jyoti Kiran and Vinay Kumar Goud.
The parties are given two weeks time to submit their replies.
