Polls for 15th Lok Sabha conclude
The five-phase elections to the 15th Lok Sabha ended on Wednesday at 17:00 hrs with about 50% of the 71.4 crore registered electors participated in this largest democratic exercise in the world that is widely expected by experts to result in a hung parliament as no single party or coalition is likely to get the coveted 272 seat mark.
The Congress-led UPA is looking for a new term in office while the NDA steered by the BJP is trying to end its term in the opposition.
The fifth and final phase on Wednesday conducted elections to 86 constituencies across 9 states and 2 union territories, including all the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu.
Counting of votes will be held on May 16 and starts from morning 8.00 am onwards till completion.
