Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf resigns

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf resignsSuccumbing to the threat of impeachment by the newly elected Parliament, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf resigned on Monday. This brings to an end the nine-year reign that survived with US backing.
Musharraf’s tenure as President started declining from the time he imposed emergency to pre-empt a judicial ruling on his October 2007 re-election, revoked the measure and quit as army chief under international and domestic pressure. He then became civilian president.
According to Media reports, a special aircraft was waiting at a military base near Rawalpindi to fly Musharraf out of the country.  He may be allowed to stay in Saudi Arabia.
