Pakistan judges to be reinstated

After marathon talks in Dubai this week, Pakistan coalition partners Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari finally came to a deal, agreeing to restore the judiciary on May 12. The Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, might consider accepting the reinstatement of some 60 judges he dismissed if the government changes the Constitution rather than passing a resolution to permit the move.
Musharraf purged the judiciary of dozens of judges, including deposed Supreme Court Chief Justice, Mr Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry, when he imposed a state of emergency in November to avoid any legal challenges to his reelection as President.
