Pak President admits creating terrorists
In a candid admission, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari said that his country deliberately “created and nurtured” militants and extremists as a policy to achieve some short-term tactical objectives.
In an interactive meeting with former senior civil servants at the presidency, Zardari said that this policy boomeranged on Pakistan after the 9/11 attack on Twin Trade Towers in USA.
Militants and extremists emerged on the national scene of Pakistan and challenged the state and the government not because the civil bureaucracy was weakened or demoralised, but because they were deliberately created as a policy.
Zardari said that they should be truthful to themselves and make a clear and categorical admission of the realities existing in Pakistan at present.
