Pak court bans Nawaz Sheriff from contesting by-poll
Former Prime Minister and PML-N party chief Nawaz has been barred by Lahore High Court from running for Parliament in forthcoming by-poll.
The decision would keep Sharif out of the legislature and prevent him from becoming Prime Minister untill the ban on his candidacy is lifted.
Sharif spokesman Pervez Rasheed said the Court ruled on Monday that Sharif was disqualified from running in the election because he had been convicted of a crime.
Rasheed said Sharif will appeal the decision ahead of the Thursday’s election.
