As part of Sakala Janula Samme, cinema theaters in Telangana closed on September 14 and 15 expressing solidarity to the ongoing general strike.
The Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce gave a call to film distributors and exhibitors to close film theaters demanding formation of a separate Telangana.
About 450 cinema theaters including multiplexes across the region have been closed voluntarily. “It was a voluntary decision to close cinema theaters as an act of solidarity. We are happy to express our willingness to be part of the movement in a different way despite suffering losses,” said M Vijayender Reddy, president, TFCC.
