The Andhra Pradesh state minister for sports, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, stated that all the IPL-3 matches slated to be played in Hyderabad were being moved out. The inaugural had already been pulled out of the city because of the Telangana agitation. The minister had been told by the organisers that all matches were moved out. Two of the seven home matches of the Deccan Chargers are scheduled to be played in Visakhapatnam.
In a letter to IPL organisers the sports minister protested: “The decision of the IPL governing council to shift the inaugural match and four other subsequent matches (out of Hyderabad) has disappointed cricket lovers in the state. I request you to use your good offices and personally prevail upon the decision makers to reconsider the decision and conduct all matches as per earlier schedule, at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium, which has world class facilities.”
