After almost a week of riot induced tension, citizens in parts of communally sensitive Hyderabad came out into the streets on Monday when curfew was relaxed from 8am to 5pm.
With intensive security arrangements, life returned to near normalcy in the old city and other areas, which were severely affected by communal violence last week. Indefinite curfew was imposed on March 29 in all 17 police station areas of the old city and in 8 police station areas of the new city on March 30 following communal clashes.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner A.K. Khan has warned that any untoward incident would lead to re-imposition of curfew. He said that night curfew from 7pm to 7am would continue till the situation completely returned to normal.
