The fasting Telugu Desam Party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, who was forcibly shifted by the police to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in the early hours of Monday, continued his indefinite hunger strike from the hospital bed.
the TDP president said he would not call off his protest till the demands of farmers were conceded. Naidu, in spite of a significant deterioration in his health, refused to accept treatment from doctors and rejected the appeal by Health Minister D.L. Ravindra Reddy’s to call off the fast.
Meanwhile, YS Jaganmohan Reddy starts his 48-hour hunger strike today at Vijayawada along with lakhs of his supporters. Arrangements are being made to transport Jagan’s followers from all over the state.
The plight of farmers has become a bone of contention for political one-up-man-ship in the state.
