Muslim quota issue for Supreme Court

After the High Court stayed operation of the Muslim quota, the Congress government of Andhra Pradesh had decided to approach the Supreme Court, since it wants to keep the Muslim community in good spirits during the election year. It had decided to seek the SC’s intervention for continuance of the quota, pending final disposal of the case by the HC.
Eminent advocate, K. Parasaran, will file a petition in the Supreme Court to seek its permission to implement the 4 per cent quota for Muslims in educational institutions by challenging the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s order staying the implementation of the Muslim quota.
If SC vacates the HC stay, about 15,000 Muslim students stand to benefit from the quota in all professional courses.
