Mohan Bhagwat has been elected as the chief of Rashtriya Swayayamsewak Sangh (RSS), designated as Sar Sangh Chalak on Saturday, the second day of the three-day RSS conclave in the presence of BJP president Rajnath Singh.
A veterinary doctor, Bhagwat hails from Chandrapur in Maharashtra and became a pracharak (full time volunteer) of RSS from his early years
59-year-old Bhagwat has replaced KS Sudarshan at the helm of affairs of RSS. His appointment is expected to redefine relations with the BJP particularly when it is trying to come back to power at the Centre in the ensuing elections.
Bhagwat has given a call to the entire RSS cader to ensure victory of Hindus in the coming general elections.
