Modi to be questioned by CBI in Sohrabuddin case

The prospect of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi being called for questioning by CBI in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case has increased, with the agency establishing his role in a suspected attempt to hush up the probe.

The CBI said that Geetha Johri, who was heading the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the fake encounter case, was pressured to take the inquiry in a wrong direction. According to sources, in its status report to Supreme Court, CBI claimed to have come across a file noting which suggested that Modi had cleared the posting of police officers Abhay Chudasama and N K Amin to the SIT, which was incidentally set up to probe a crime in which the two officers were themselves suspects.
