Mayawati’s cabinet decides to split UP into 4 states
The cabinet of the Government of Uttar Pradesh chaired by the chief minister Mayawati decided to divide the state into four: Purvanchal, Pashchim Pradesh, Bundelkhand and Awadh Pradesh.
A formal resolution to this effect will be introduced in the state assembly during the winter session beginning on November 21.
After the resolution was passed by the assembly, it would be sent to the union government that would be required to table it before parliament where it would have to be passed.
Mayawati also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the cabinet resolution.
