Manmohan Singh in ICCU: Surgery successful
According to D.K. Sharma, medical superintendent of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s heart surgery was successful and described his condition as stable. The doctors performed the beating heart bypass surgery as that was less risky.
The prime minister was wheeled into Operation Theatre-5 at about 7.30 a.m.The cardiac operation went on for nearly eight hours. He has been moved to the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit after the surgery.
Doctors are studying Singh’s vital parameters to monitor post-operative care.
