The Liberhan Commission probing the 1992 demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on Tuesday submitted its report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in presence of home minister P Chidambaram.
Constituted in December 1992, the commission headed by Justice M S Liberhan had got 48 extensions and submitted the report after 17 years.
Justice Liberhan refused to divulge the details of the report stating that the Commission had been appointed under the provisions of the Constitution of India and the report will be made public only after being tabled in the Parliament.
Justice Liberhan said that the report got delayed because of certain court orders on witnesses and non-cooperation by certain people.
It is widely believed that the Liberhan Comission Report may indict some top leaders of the BJP, RSS and Bhajarang Dal.
