Left parties adamant over Nuclear deal
The stalemate between Left and the UPA over Indo-US nuclear deal continued in today’s meeting. The Left parties have asked the government not to go to IAEA for further talks.
CPI leader A B Bardhan said that the Left parties had decided that the government should not go to IAEA, since the draft of the safeguards agreement had not been made available to Left parties.
Bardhan insisted that Left can’t form opinion on N-deal without the draft, and that they would not allow go-ahead to the government.
There are unconfirmed reports that the Left and UPA have decided to meet again on June 25 to resolve the deadlock on this issue.
