Lagadapati Rajagopal to go on indefinite fast
Lagadapati Rajagopal, Congress MP from Vijayawada, has requested Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to introduce a resolution in the State Assembly for separation of Telangana and allow MLAs to vote according to their conscience; otherwise he would go on an indefinite fast.
The MP said it was an appropriate time for the Assembly to make its decision loud and clear to the nation stating that Telugu pride and unity were intact. He observed that Telugu people would lose significance, importance and strength in a federal set-up, if the State was split.
Stating that ‘Jai Telangana’ and ‘Jai Andhra’ movements were born out of genuine concerns of people about disparities and differences in job opportunities for different regions, he mentioned that Six-Point Formula and the Presidential Order had addressed all such concerns. The separatist movement was fuelled by unemployed politicians.
