Vijayawada Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, who vanished yesterday from a Vijayawada hospital, reappeared dramatically in Hyderabad on Monday and admitted himself into the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) at around 2pm.
Rajagopal, who has been on a fast for the past nine days in support of united Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada was shifted to a hospital there four days ago. Around 300 policemen, providing security at the hospital, were caught off guard as the MP gave them a slip and went missing.
Andhra Pradesh government suspended Vijayawada Police Commissioner Rajendra Nath Reddy on Monday along with deven other police officers in view of the escape of Rajagopal.
The NIMS has been cordoned off by the police and some pro-Telangana activists shouting slogans have been arrested. Even the electronic media was refused permission to enter into the premises of the hospital.
