KCR to intensify stir for Telangana
The TRS president, K. Chandrashekar Rao, met top Naxal leader Kura Rajanna at Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday. KCR held an in camera discussion with him on various issues pertaining to Telangana. The move assumes a lot of political significance in the wake of intelligence reports that the TRS is trying to woo the Naxals of Janashakti and CPI Maoists who couldn’t carry out their armed struggle due to police action
K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has also decided to select candidates for all the 2009 Assembly constituencies within the next couple of months. As part of this initiative, he will start identifying the right candidates and announce their names in the next two months.
According to sources, the recent drubbing in the by-polls was because of the non-performance of sitting MLAs. They feel that although the T-sentiment is strong, the lackadaisical attitude of the sitting MLAs led to the party’s debacle. To rectify the mistake, the TRS chief is now seriously considering the option of declaring the party candidates as early as possible.
Besides choosing new leaders, Rao is also planning to strengthen the party at the grass roots level by appointing booth-wise committees at the village level. He is planning to utilise the services of Telangana students’ organisations, teachers and employees in his bid to spread the T-sentiment. To chalk out an action plan, Rao will meet Telangana intellectuals and TRS leaders on June 10 in a day-long meeting at Telangana Bhavan.
