Kadapa will now get central university

Kadapa, the native district of AP Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, has seen tremendous growth in the last four years. The district has got several mega institutions such as Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences, IIIT, Jawahar Knowledge Centre and Vemana University since the Chief Minister came to power.

Now, the state government has proposed to set up a world class university in Kadapa district. The Centre has been scouting for the right location to set up the university and the state has offered land for this purpose in Kadapa. Initially, the state government considered Visakhapatnam, but the plan was dropped because of the non-availability of the required 700 acres of land.
