K Rosaiah appointed Governor of Tamil Nadu
Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah has been appointed Governor of Tamil Nadu. Rosaiah (78) replaces S S Barnala, who took over the post on June 20, 2006. Rosaiah, a prominent Congress leader from Guntur who held the state finance portfolio for a number of terms, assumed charge as AP chief minister on September 3, 2009 after the death of the then chief minister of the state Dr Y S Rajsekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash, and held the post till November 24, 2010.
Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Ram Naresh Yadav has been appointed as Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Vakkom Purushothaman, a veteran Congress leader from Kerala, is appointed as governor of Mizoram. Former Maharashtra cabinet minister Syed Ahmed was appointed as the new governor of Jharkhand and the incumbent governor MOH Farook was shifted to Kerala.
The Governors for Goa and Rajasthan are likely to be appointed soon.
