T. Jeevan Reddy, who was narrowly defeated by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, in the Karimnagar Lok Sabha bypoll, would be re-inducted into the state Cabinet.
“Earlier he fought and lost heavily but this time it was different,” said the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. “When he resigned as minister to contest in Karimnagar, I assured him that he would be accommodated again in case he lost. I will keep the promise.”
Sources in the Chief Minister’s Office said Mr Jeevan Reddy would be sworn in as minister on Wednesday. He would be given back his roads and buildings portfolio.
The Chief Minister also hinted that a cabinet reshuffle was in the offing. He said that he would go to Delhi on June 12 for consultations with the party president, Sonia Gandhi, and would discuss the cabinet reshuffle along with party matters. Dr Reddy indicated that some ministers would be removed and others added based on the performance reports.
