Intelligence report: Pak Terrorist threat to leaders
The Indian intelligence agencies have intercepted cross-border chatters between terrorists, speaking about intentions to target some political leaders in India during the elections and also about attempts to disrupt the election process itself.
Based on the Intelligence reports, the Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, wrote to the Chief Secretaries of all the Indian states to maintain the highest level of alertness in view of the threat for political leaders during the forthcoming election campaign.
According to the sources, the intercepts suggest that terrorists want to target some politicians during elections, which would result result in world-wide media attention.
The Home ministry, however, did not identify any particular leader or leaders who may be facing the terrorist threat.
