India’s first Nuclear Submarine launched today

India’s first Nuclear Submarine launched today

The first indigenous Nuclear Submarine of India which was taking its shape since last two decades under covers at Vizag Dock Yard, finally launched by Smt Gurucharan Kaur wife of Prime Minister of India Dr.Manmohan Singh, today at Vizag around 12.30 noon.

The Submarine is first of its kind which runs on Nuclear Energy, gives an edge over the others, because of its capabilities to stay under waters for several days continuously, and for carrying conventional and war heads like Agni etc.

The entire programme is strictly confined to Top Brass of the Defence Services and VVIPs only. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his wife arrived at Vizag on a special plane from New Delhi, for the inauguration of the Nuclear Submarine. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr.Y.S.Rajashekar Reddy arrived an hour before PM’s arrival received him at the Air Port and accompanied him to the location. The launching function was concluded in less than an hour, of course totally under covers, where not even local leaders are not permitted to attend.

Prime Minister, Chief Minister and their teams returned to their places soon after the function is concluded.
