Home Secretary: Hyderabad will be Telangana’s capital
As the UPA government battles the political fallout on the Telangana issue, Union Home Secretary G. K. Pillai on Friday said Hyderabad will be the capital of the newly proposed State to be culled out of Andhra Pradesh.
The remarks of Pillai assume significance as the political backlash in Andhra Pradesh mounted with 131 MLAs resigning to protest the Centre’s agreeing to the carving out of a separate Telangana State.
Pillai also said the agitation against Telangana would die down in the coming days once the people understand the real implication of what is meant.
The MLAs, MLCs and MPs from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions denounced the statement of the Union Home Secretary.
