The Congress high command on Tuesday snubbed both the Telangana and Andhra MLA groups for their “competitive politics” and sent back the Telangana delegation in less than 24 hours after they landed in the national capital. The delegation under the leadership of Rajya Sabha MP and CWC member K. Keshava Rao, had reached the capital on Monday evening, and met Ahmed Patel, political secretary to Sonia Gandhi.
According to sources, Ahmed Patel is said to have taken strong exception to the visits of public representatives to Delhi and asked them to get back and work for peace and harmony in the state.
Jana Reddy and R. Damodar Reddy met a few Central leaders who reacted impatiently and asked them to cancel the tour. The senior leaders, in turn, telephoned other leaders in Hyderabad who were getting ready to board a New Delhi flight on Tuesday and told them not to come.
The party high command also turned down the request of Andhra and Rayalaseema leaders for an appointment to meet Mrs Gandhi.
