Justice Narasimha Reddy of Andhra Pradesh High Court has taken suo motu the allegations of corruption made by Textile and Handlooms Minister P Shankar Rao against his colleagues Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy and Excise Minister M Venkatramanna and ordered a CBI probe. The single judge transferred the case to a larger Bench for the monitoring the case.
Shankar Rao alleged that there was rampant corruption in the matters of posting and transfers of officials both in the Home and the Excise departments. He added that he had proof of corruption in these departments.
Shankar Rao had earlier filed a petition based on which the State High Court had ordered the CBI to launch investigations in to the alleged ill-gotten wealth of Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, son of former Chief Minister YS Rajashekhar Reddy.
