Gujarat riots: Modi summoned by SIT
The Supreme Court (SC) appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by R K Raghavan has summoned Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to appear before it on March 21 for questioning in the Gujarat riots case.
The summon follows a 100 page petition filed in the apex court by Zakia Jaffrey, widow of the late Congress MP Ehsan Jaffrey who was killed in the Gulberg Society massacre in Ahmedabad. The SC then appointed the SIT to investigate Zakia’s complaint. The summons had been served on Modi as the SIT is said to have gathered ‘valuable evidence’ against him in the case.
