Fraudulent import: 6 super bikes seized in Hyderabad
Consequent upon the Suzuki 1000 cc super bike accident of Mohd Ayazuddin, son of former cricket captain MD Azaruddin, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) investigators had seized six such bikes, three Hondas, including a CBR 1000, two Kawasakis and a Suzuki Hayabusa, whose price tags were between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 30 lakh, in Hyderabad.
There are 267 superbikes registered in Andhra Pradesh. A majority of them, 175, are in the twin cities. According to RTA officials, about 60% of these bikes were registered in the last five years.
The DRI officials say that spare parts were imported from Japan and Singapore and unauthorisedly assembled and sold away to rich customers. However, none of the owners seems to be aware of this fraud. But, the super bikes owned by Tollywood celebrities were found to be in order.
