EC books cases against TDP & TRS
The Election Commission on Friday ordered the filing of cases against TD president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, and the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, for violating the 48-hour campaign ban on the eve of the May 29 bypolls. Similar cases had been filed against the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, on Thursday.
The EC directed the chief electoral officer, Mr I.V. Subba Rao, to file complaints against Naidu and Chandrasekhar Rao with the police under Section 126(b) of the Rep-resentation of the People Act for using electronic media to campaign during poll eve.
While Mr Naidu addressed the media and a public meeting in Jaggaiahpet, the TRS supremo took part in the face-to-face programme in a private TV channel.
