Visakhapatnam, June 30 (INN): In-charge of AP Congress affairs Digvijay Singh was given a warm welcome when he arrived in the port city on Sunday evening.
Union Minister D Purandeswari, PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana, ministers Ganta Srinivas, S Sailajanath, TTD Chairman K Bapiraju, senior leaders Gade Venkat Reddy and others were present at the airport. A few leaders gave him representations against the formation of Telangana State.
Talking to reporters later, Sailajanath and Gade Venkat Reddy said that Digvijay Singh has been given representation on the keeping the State united.
Although Digvijay Singh is scheduled to participate in the inauguration of Kshtriya Kalyan Mandapam here, his visit to Visakhapatnam after assuming charge as incharge of State Congress affairs is being considered very important as it coincided with the Telangana Sadhana Sabha public meeting in Hyderabad.
Sources say that Digvijay Singh did not respond to the representations that he received. He reportedly told the leaders that he was on a private visit and would discuss the issue after holding meeting with the leaders in Hyderabad on Monday.
