Thousands of people rushed to the post offices in Kakinada, district headquarters of East Godavari, to open savings accounts as rumours spread about distribution of Rs 50,000 to each account holder from the black money allegedly seized from Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, ex-Karnataka tourism minister and Obulapuram mining czar Gali Janardhan Reddy and his brothers as well as from the Sri Sathya Sai Trust.
Within a few hours more than 1000 savings accounts were opened in the post offices of Kakinada. The police tried in vain to control the crowds at the post offices. The people did not heed to the officials who told them that the distribution of black money is not a fact but just a rumour spread by some mischievous persons.
The police said that they are investigating about the origin of these rumours and trying to nab those who initiated them.
