Hyderabad, Sept 4 (INN): On the directions of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who is in Delhi now, a high level meeting was held today at Secretariat to review the arrangements for the forthcoming Ganesh Festival in the city.
The Chief Minister in the morning telephonically reviewed the arrangements with the Chief Secretary. It was agreed in the meeting that the festival should be held in a serene and calm atmosphere keeping up with the tradition of the great city of Hyderabad.
It was decided that the festival will be conducted peacefully as usual with the coordination of all departments concerned and the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee.
Minister Dr Geetha Reddy assured all cooperation from the Government side and said all arrangements will be made for the smooth conduct of the festival without any problem. The Ministers said any problem or genuine demand could be brought to the notice of the authorities and will be immediately solved and sought the cooperation of all concerned in this regard.
Bhagwantha Rao, General Secretary, Bandaru Dattatreya and others of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi explained about the various issues and sought additional cranes, drinking water, repairing of roads etc.
The Chief Secretary agreed to take notice of all their genuine demands and solve them at the earliest. The Chief Secretary explained the arrangements already initiated like providing cranes and additional cranes as per requirement, Steps are being taken for Barricading of en-route Ganesh Procession and to provide approach roads at various immersion points, arranging platforms, clearing stones, Debris etc., in the streets and illumination of streets en-route processions. Measures have been taken to provide boats and deploy swimmers (Divers) on the day of immersion. Ambulances are being arranged and steps are taken to provide first aid medicine with Para-medical staff at the reception centres at Pandals on the main routes of the processions.
The Chief Secretary said that required number of Fire tenders and rescue ladders will be made available. Supply of uninterrupted power in various immersion points, providing drinking water en-route procession are also being taken up. Procurement of adequate lorries would be made available to organisers. Diverting buses from the procession routes and providing enough city services to all other places till mid night on the immersion day will also be done.
The GHMC Commissioner said that Rs.17 crs is sanctioned for road repairs and more than 50 per cent of the works are over and the rest of the works are being done on war footing. Works regarding sanitation and debris clearance would also be taken up.
Officials said that steps are also taken to provide accommodation to forces deployed from other places and arrangements for public address system at various places. Measures are taken to open a Joint Control Room for use of Officers of the Departments at Sardar Mahal at Old City, running of MMTS trains on the day of immersion, throughout the night. Army assistance would be sought to keep sufficient troops in their own Units to move out in case of emergency to assist Civil Authorities. He said supply of earthen idols with natural colours at different counters will also be taken up.
The Chief Secretary said he would hold separate meetings on important issues with the officials concerned and issue directions from time to time.
