Visakhapatnam, June 23 (INN): Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday called upon the children and youth to actively participate in the sports to maintain good health.
Speaking after flagging off the Olympic Day Run at Andhra University College of Engineering Grounds here, the Chief Minister said that sports should be viewed as an activity for good health which instills positive spirit among participants. He said that the winning or losing does not matter in sports and it should be played with complete honesty.
More than one lakh people including Tollywood Hero Ram Charan participated in the run organised by the Visakhapatnam District Olympic Association (VDOA). The 5-KM run that started from Andhra University College of Engineering passed through the Rama Krishna Beach and Kali Mata Mandir to reach RK Beach. It was aimed at entering the Guinness Book of World Records.
Union Minister D Purandeswari, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, Sports Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and other leaders participated in the function.
