Chiranjeevi’s PRP to join new AP government?
With Kiran Kumar Reddy named as the new chief minister of AP, speculation is rife that 3 ministerial berths would be given to Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party. The move is said to be to thwart any attempts to destabilise the Congress government by the Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s camp. The PRP has 18 MLAs in the Legislative Assembly.
Though Chiranjeevi has been consistently denying the possibility of joining the Congress government, political analysts say it was imminent.
In fact, the PRP chief, Chiranjeevi’s trip to New Delhi on Tuesday to meet the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, has fuelled speculations.
The PRP has been maintaining ‘cordial relations’ with the Congress and has been supporting the government on various issues on the floor of the Assembly.
