TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been arrested by the Maharashtra police yesterday, refused to take bail and has been remanded for 14 days today by a mobile magistrate. He has been shifted to Nasik jail.
Meanwhile, wide-spread protests were held across Andhra Pradesh today condemning the arrest of N Chandrababu Naidu and 74 party legislators by Maharashtra Police. Angry TDP workers burnt effigy of Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in Hyderabad while a rail-blockade was staged in Guntur city.
The agitators demanded that the TDP delegation be allowed to inspect Babli and other irrigation projects said to have been built illegally by Maharashtra on river Godavari.
