Bush blames India for high food prices

US President George W Bush said that prosperity in countries like India is triggering increased demand for better nutrition which in turn leads to higher food prices. There are 350 million people in India who are classified as middle class. That’s bigger than America’s entire population.
Bush said that there are many factors for the present crisis, one of which was investment on bio-fuels.

Several international experts have in recent days held bio-fuels, until recently cast as a miracle alternative to polluting fossil fuels, for being responsible for usurping arable land and distorting world food prices.

Bush has said that the reason why food prices are high in US now is because of high energy costs and the farmers are passing on the cost of energy in the products they sell.
