When SFI leader Sudipto Gupta lost his life in Bengal during protests, entire left turned furious in Bengal and inspite of police high handedness CM Mamata remained defaint. If Mamata felt that there won’t be any protests outside Bengal she was mistaken as left organisations opposed her Delhi visit along with Amit Mitra to meet plan panel Deputy Chairperson Montek Singh Ahluwalia at 3.45 PM yesterday.
Though Police adviced her not to come out of the car,she got down and walked right into the protesting crowd along with Amit Mitra. While she faced furious protests, Amit Mitra was roughed up and his Kurta was torn. Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee and Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim also faced the ire of the activists who were protesting the death of Sudipto Gupta, a leader of CPI(M)’s student wing SFI.
Even as Mamta remained defiant and returned back to Bengal saying even she can bring her supporters, left parties too did not budge even as Bengal Governor asked them to apologise.
