Hyderabad, Sept 22 (INN): The Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers Association will continue the strike as the Cabinet Sub-Committee has failed to give any assurance to the striking employees on fulfilling its demands.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy along with Chief Secretary Dr PK Mohanty held talks with the striking employees at the State Secretariat here on Sunday. However, the union leaders said that it was not in their hands to end the strike. They said that Seemandhra employees would continue the strike till the Centre makes a clear statement assuring that Andhra Pradesh would not be bifurcated.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee told the striking employees that they would discuss their demands with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy before giving an assurance to them.
It may be mentioned that nearly 4 lakh employees affiliated with the APNGOs and other unions went on indefinite strike since August 12 midnight in protest against the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to create Telangana. The strike has brought the administration in the entire State, especially in 13 districts of coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema region, to a halt. (INN)
