AP Congress moves away from JACs
Joint Action Committees (JACs) had been formed both for a separate Telangana state and United Andhra Pradesh. All political parties are part of the JACs. Now, the Congress leaders from Telangana and coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions appear to be moving away from the JACs.
The Congress leaders working for unified State made no secret of their stand on extending issue-based support to the Telugu Desam in the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, while their Telangana counterparts had decided to float a “Political Action Committee” to carry out their party’s activities in the region.
The Congress MLAs from the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions maintained silence when asked whether they were prepared to join the JAC proposed by the TDP owing to doubts over the commitment of the main Opposition to the unified State.
