AP Assembly Speaker rejects T-MLAs resignations
In a surprise political development, the Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, has rejected the resignations submitted by the 100 MLAs from the Telangana region demanding separate Telangana state. He rejected the resignations on the grounds that they were submitted in an emotionally surcharged situation. However, no action is yet taken on the resignations of MLCs and MPs from Telangana.
The TDP and TRS legislators from T-region decided to once again submit their resignations to the speaker. The BJP said that the action of the Speaker in rejecting the resignations was unconstitutional. The TRS said it is also exploring legal recourse on the action of the Speaker.
Meanwhile, T-Congress MLAs and ministers are in a fix. They met to discuss the developments and decided to wait until they hold further discussions with AICC general secretary on Monday.
