Anti-terror NSG hub at Hyderabad from July 1

Consequent to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks the Union Government decided to create National Security Guards (NSG) hubs at Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata.

The NSG hub at Hyderabad, with 241 personnel, becomes functional from July 1 at the CISF barracks in the old airport at Begumpet. The permanent hub will be set up on the 22-acre land in Trimulgherry. The NSG is equipped with the latest weaponry including heli-borne equipment including all the latest weaponry used in anti-terror operations.

The Union home minister, P. Chidambaram, and the Chief Minister of AP, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, will be present during the induction ceremony on July 1.
The Mumbai hub will also become operational from tomorrow and it will be inaugurated by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
