Shyam Sunder Prasad Yadav, Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh has been removed from his post by the three-member Election Commission for violating the election code.
SSP Yadav reportedly praised the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy at a public meeting in Kurnool after the notification of the election schedule.
After receiving complaints from TDP, Left parties and BJP, the EC viewed the video of DGP’s public speech and arrived at the conclusion that he had indeed violated the election code.
The EC asked the AP state government to send a list of three senior police officers one of whom will be selected by the EC as the next DGP.
The senior most IPS officers are KR Nandan, AK Mohanty and P Goutham Kumar.
