In an unexpected move K Rosaiah, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh announced that he would be quitting on grounds of health. He told reporters that he would submit his resignation to Governor ESL Narasimhan.
“I have done my best as the CM of the state. No one asked for my resignation, it’s my own call,” Rosaiah said while announcing his resignation on TV.
I urge my successor to keep Andhra Pradesh Congress together, Rosaiah further added.
Senior Congress leaders Pranab Mukherjee, Ahmed Patel and Moily are going to Hyderabad to deal with the situation.
This will further add to the woes of Congress party which is struggling with scam after scam. It is very difficult to choose a leader acceptable to all regions. In the light of separate Telangana state movement which will pick up in the next couple of months after submission of Sri Krishna Committee report, it will be very daunting task indeed for the next chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.
