Airports on high alert against terror attacks

Based on intelligence reports that terrorists from Pakistan or Afghanistan may strike by taking the aerial route like US 9/11-type, airports all over the country went on high alert. December 6 happens to be the anniversary of Babri Mosque demolition.

Frisking of passengers and baggage has been intensified and additional paramilitary and police personnel have been deployed particularly in Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai airports, in view of the emails received threatening Bangalore airport.

Authorities have deployed additional contingents of the CISF and police inside and outside the Delhi airport. At Chennai, over 300 armed guards with assault rifles took position in and around the airport. At the Bengaluru International Airport, entry of visitors into the terminal building has been stopped.
