The second phase of Lok Sabha polls took place today across 12 states in the country. By and large the voting is peaceful except certain incidents of violence in Naxal-infested Jharkhand.
A magistrate Rajendra Prasad and a police constable, who were going to their assigned polling station, were wounded when Naxals lobbed a bomb at their vehicle near Dadi-Srirampur village in Giridh district, about 200 kms from Ranchi, in Jharkhand.
In another incident, security forces repulsed a Naxalite bid to disrupt polling in Bansdera in East Singhbhum.
Brisk polling was reported from all the 140 constituencies spread across 12 states in the second round of the five-phased elections which would end at 1700 hrs.
In Andhra Pradesh, the voting was reported at around 70% in the 20 LS constituencies and 140 Legislative Assembly seats.
