Zumba, an aerobic dance fitness routine set to South American beats, is a Latin dance-inspired fitness programme. It’s all about feeling the music, moving to it and letting it inspire you to a leaner and fitter body. This workout targets core of the body, arm and leg muscles, resulting in a loss of 400 to 500 calories in every 45 minutes.

Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness program created by dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez in Colombia during the 1990s. Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba’s choreography incorporates hip-hop,samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves, Squats and lunges are also included.

Popular right from Miami to Mumbai, a few Hollywood celebrities swear by their Zumba. Pop diva Madonna loves dance-based fitness routine and Zumba and is among the most prominent workout routines in her Hard Candy gyms. Other Hollywood celebrities that follow Zumba include Jennifer Lopez, Kirstie Alley, Vivica A. Fox and Jordin Sparks among others.
