Bikram Yoga is a system of yoga that Bikram Choudhury synthesized from traditional yoga techniques. It has to be practiced exactly for 90 minutes in a room heated to 105°F with a humidity of 40%. The practice consiss of a set series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises.
Bikram Yoga’s goal is toward general healthiness and the heated studio facilitates deeper stretching and injury prevention, while reducing stress and tension. This system is said to stimulate and restore health to every muscle, joint, and organ of the body along with good blood circulation through the processes called extension and compression. Many of the postures help massage the lymphatic system and aid in lymphatic drainage improving the elimination of infection, bacteria, and toxins from the body.
